In short: A 10 ton overhead crane is one of the most common capacities in medium to heavy industry. Depending on span and duty it is designed as a single or double girder crane, usually with an electric wire rope hoist.
How is a 10 ton crane designed?
At 10 t the choice between single and double girder depends mainly on span, hook height and duty class. For medium spans and normal use a single girder crane is economical; for large spans, high hook height or intensive use a double girder crane is recommended.
Runway and building check
The wheel loads of a 10 t crane are transferred to the runway beams and building columns. In a new crane project their capacity is checked and, if necessary, the runway is included in the scope.
Recommended equipment
- Electric wire rope hoist with two-speed or inverter hoisting
- Inverter drives for smooth bridge and trolley travel
- Radio remote control for safe operation at a distance
- Overload protection, limit switches, warning light and siren
- Optional load display and anti-sway
Applications
Steel fabrication, machine and equipment manufacturing, die shops, precast concrete and logistics areas.

FAQ
Is my existing building suitable for a 10 ton crane?
Wheel loads are transferred to the runway beams and columns. We check the building structure during the site survey and include the runway in the scope if necessary.
